 platelet count is down to 130000 Dr didnt seem real concerned and also said it wasnt possibel for crestor to caus lower platelets. I said eith im crazy with all I have read or the medical community is being lied to by the drug companys. 57 Male 10/05

 i have been taking crestor 5 msg for about 15 months now , working great on most levels except bad knee and joint pain , whicj dr gave me 800 mgs of ibuprofin. last blood work was fine but platelet count was 130000, a littl ebelow normal. what botehr me is dr eferes to phycians deadk manual and says he didnt see were platelets were efffected. I know a lot on the internet is questional at best. but its all over the net several sites that statins can lower platelet counts. Am i crazy.? 57 Male 10/05

 I AM NOT QUITE SURE WHAT IS GOING ON, SINCE I AM AN EXTREMELY ACTIVE PERSON AND A SURGEON. BUT LAST TIME I HAD A DENTAL CLEANING THE OBSERVATION WAS MADE OF SOMEWHAT HIGHER BLEEDING DURING THE PROCEDURE, ALTHOUGH MY TEETH CLEANLINESS WAS ADEQUATE. LATELY I HAVE BEEN NOTICING INCREASED INCIDENCE OF NOSE BLEEDS WITH CRESTOR (ONCE/WEEK), I WAS TAKING ZOCOR FOR ABOUT 6 MO. PRIOR AND NOSE BLEEDS WERE NOT THAT OFTEN THAT I CAN RECALL.
I'M BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT THE STATIN IS INDEED HAVING AN EFFECT ON MY LIVER-MEDIATED CLOTTING FACTORS QUALITY. MY LABS DURING THE SURVEILLANCE PERIOD HAVE NOT BEEN ABNORMAL FOR LIVER FUNCTIONS, BUT A FACTOR ASSAY OR QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF THE CLOTTING FACTORS HAS NOT BEEN MADE. I AM HAVING MY YEARLY PHYSICAL WITH LABS IN A WEEK, SO WE'LL SEE WHAT THE FINDINGS ARE. 		60 Male 09/25
