Was prescribed 6 pills, but stopped taking them after the 3rd pill (second day), but still have side effects. No info was given on tendon issues, in spite of medical history that would make this a drug of last resort - not first. Mosquito bite like spots on chest shoulders and neck. Buzzing noise is constant and much louder than the minor tinnitis prior to taking this medication. 50 Female 10/08

Bactrim DS (sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim) 800 5 days
Urinary tract infection
4 hours after taking this drug (1 dose) I began to experience intense pain in my shoulder. It increased and spread through my body as time went on. The emergency rooom physician's assistant misdiagnosed it as muscle spasms, despite the fact that I had the drug info sheet with me. My primary recognized the problem ran a test for Creatine Kinase. thank God, because a second dose of this drug would probably have killed me. 53 Female 12/11

I had many of the same symptoms...the emergency room did not recognize the problem, even though I had the sheet from the pharmacy that inluded the symptoms in the warnings. My primary care physician finally tested me for Creatine Kinase, which was through the roof. I was treated with steroids and now must undergo rehab to return my muscles. This is a VERY BAD reaction that seems to be little recognized. R
