I've had no problem but hair loss. I haven't used product for while, but scalp is still pink, itchy and hair is still falling out. Went to doctor who did thyroid and iron tests. All tests were fine. The only new thing in my life is Vagifem. I sure hope my hair grows back. I guess I will have to a use a product which does not have hormones in it. 52 Female 07/11

Vagifem (estradiol topical) 10 mcg 2 days
Atrophic vaginitis (thinning of the vaginal wall - usually after menopause - may cause vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and burning with urination)
The medication works wonderfully for the symptoms I was experiencing, but has created a side effect of SEVERE hair loss. Fortunately, I normally have thicker hair, so hopefully after discontinuing this medication, my hair loss will stop and regrowth will begin. 45 Female 03/17

Vagifem (estradiol topical)
Vaginal itching
I noticed that my hair had been thinning significantly and thought back to any changes in my diet or lifestyle. FINALLY, I thought of hormones and remembered that I'd started using Vagifem six months ago. I read the pamphlet enclosed with the prescription but it did not mention hair oss as a possible side effect. Tried the internet and there it was! Vagifem CAN cause hair loss. Also, my Dr. had told me that it could cause hair growth on the face BUT she did NOT tell me (as the internet did) that if such a thing occurs, it may be irreversible. I am SO angry that she (Dr.) did not explain ALL the ramifications of taking this drug and let me make an "informed" decision. 11/14
