At first, the drug was great. Now, after I have been taking it for 3 months, I have started to experience a loss of appetite, rapid heart rate, stomach fullness to the point of hurting. Headache. If I miss a day's dose, then for that day, I feel fine. But, the next day I feel absoultely HORRIBLE! I have this sensation of "popping" in my head! I know this sounds crazy, but it is not like a popping of the ears, but a feeling like I just woke up and in a haze, then this "popping" sensation starts. It will last most, if not all, of the day. I was originally put on Lexapro 10 mg. back in August of 08, but I complained to my Dr. that I had absoultely NO sex drive at all. So, this years visit to the Dr. I told him about this and that is when he put me on the Pristiq. I feel that my panic attacks were directly related to my depression 2 years ago, but now I don't feel as if I have the panic like tendencies. Has anyone else experiend the "popping" I have described when they miss a dose?? I do not want to continue taking this med. any idea how to taper myself off?			11/11

Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) 50 3 months			Mild depression	Lack of energy/fatigue Headache Drowsiness Coughing fits	I have been on Pristiq for 3 mo. The Dr. advised me to take it before bed. Wrong! Don't take it at night unless you want to wake up at 2 am. It worked ok after the initial wk of many slight side effects. I have had headaches that feel like a hangover for most days the past 6 wks. I am also coughing alot. The coughing is hard and forceful and wakes me up many times at night. I cough until I sneeze and then I'm better for a while. I am on the couch to let my husband sleep. I d/c the pristiq & switched to Prozac 2 days ago. I expected horrible effects of stopping Pristiq but got none. Perhaps the Prozac helped. I am waiting for the Pristiq to leave my body to get a good nights sleep. I expected great things and it did not deliver.	48	Female	10/19

Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) half tablet 1 days			Depression	Anxiety Constipation	I would warn people to NOT take something like this. Diagnosed with depression. Took half a tablet (no prior meds at all or smoking, drinking) and within the hour I was screaming and wanting to smash things really bad. Went to the ER, vitals off the charts..put me in a room with a guard, and took a couple of hours to wear off. Took ativan too for sedative. Had tremors, short breath, drug toxisity, massive shakes. Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) 50mg 7 days			Depression	Chills Diarrhea Dizziness	I'm also taking 150mg of Wellbutrin and Lorpressor (50mg) for moderately high blood pressure. Since taking the Pristiq I've had lower than usual BP, dizziness especially when standing or walking, nausea, fever, chills. Overall it's been miserable. My doctor wants me to stick with it. I hope the side effects wear off. In the meantime I'm taking myself off the Lorpressor in hopes that the dizziness will stop.	30	Female	09/02

	Comments(1): 10/07 01:30 I've been on 50mg for 4 weeks now, and have no energy. I am constantly sleepy. My emotions are all over the place and I feel worse than ever. I was taking 750mg of Effexor XR and was switched because the effectiveness had worn off. I'd rather have nothing than to be a zombie on this med.

Pristiq (desvenlafaxine) 100 4 days			Depression Anxiety/nervousness/panic/tension	Depression/mood changes Muscle spasms Anxiety/nervousness/panic/tension Irritability Severe lack of energy/fatigue	I was taking 50 mg of Pristiq and for the first 2 weeks it was amazing - I had more energy and felt good! After that I suddenly felt extremely lethargic during the day - ALL DAY. I raised the dosage to 100 mg q a.m. and it seems even worse. I quit taking Effexor because of the excessive sweating but I would rather deal with dripping with sweat that depression, anxiety, irritability, SEVERE muscle spasms, and extreme fatigue. Thank God for this forum or I would have thought for certain I was going crazy! Now if I can get my doctor to call me back!	32	Female	08/04

You cannot miss dosages or all hell breaks loose! My short term memory and ability to form cogent, flowing sentences is greatly effected! Even when taking properly the side effects outweigh any benefits I can barely see. Am going to have my Dr. reduce amount and wean myself off this miserable concoction!
