Levoxyl (levothyroxine) 275
Abnormal thyroid hormone blood levels
My endocrine doctor prescribed levothyroxine to suppress the cancer from reoccurring in my thyroid. Since Feb 2006 he has increased the dosage from 50 mg to 275 mg. He increased the dosage to 275 mg in March 2009.

In June of 2009 my diabetes suddenly became uncontrollable. I also since that time have loss over 25 pounds due to excessive urination. My life has been a living hell since I began taking levothyroxine. When my doctor is preparing me to undergo a full body scan for cancer he stops me from taking the levothyroxine for a 45 day period.

After a 30 days of not taking the levothyroxine I am unable sleep, experience irregularity, weight gain, hearing loss and a host of other problems that I think are all related to not having levothyroxine in my system. Currently as I previously mentioned I think the dose of levothyroxine at (275) mg is entirely too much for my body to handle.

I am currently having to take 2-3 times more insulin to control my diabetes. I've had type 1 diabetes for over 45 years and never had this type of problem with controlling my diabetes.

I am unable to maintain fluids in my system and have loss over 25 pounds since June 2009. Can anyone out there give a any suggestions or comments? My email address is derek.p.jackson@navy.mil.

T hanks so much.

Synthroid (levothyroxine) 25mcg 9 weeks
Underactive thyroid gland ("hypothyroidism" - low levels of thyroid hormone - may cause subtle or extreme loss of energy; sluggisheness; hoarse voice; heavy menstruation; puffy face/eyes; pale, dry skin; weight gain; sensitivity to cold; constipation; muscle aches/stiffness/weakness; increased cholesterol levels; anemia; hearing loss; elevated CK/creatinine phosphokinase; abnormal liver blood tests; thinning of the hair and eyebrows; loss of body hair; depression; decreased body temperature; coma)
i started taking synthroid about 9 weeks ago. 25mcg a day in morning. I am subclinical and had all kinds of symptoms such as unable to sleep, weight gain, tired all the time, loss libido, heavy menstruation, cold all the time and many more. I was taking a natural product and stopped when my endo prescribed synthroid. I have not felt good since. I was extremely tired and lost alot of my allready thin hair that i had left. My skin got even dryer than before. The only improvement i have noticed was my libido seems a little better and my menstruation was not as heavy. I still have no energy and believe that synthroid is not a drug of choice if we all had one. 41 Female 11/03

I just started the gabapentin a few days ago. I'm pretty impressed so far after just a few days. I can feel some relief from the pain. It gives me a "high", "wired" feeling but it doesn't bother me enough to stop taking it. I have tried soooooo many different types of drugs trying to find relief. My fingers are crossed so far so good. 41 Female 10/22

levothyroxine 100mg 2 months
sertraline 150mg 2 months
Underactive thyroid gland ("hypothyroidism" - low levels of thyroid hormone - may cause subtle or extreme loss of energy; sluggisheness; hoarse voice; heavy menstruation; puffy face/eyes; pale, dry skin; weight gain; sensitivity to cold; constipation; muscle aches/stiffness/weakness; increased cholesterol levels; anemia; hearing loss; elevated CK/creatinine phosphokinase; abnormal liver blood tests; thinning of the hair and eyebrows; loss of body hair; depression; decreased body temperature; coma)
Depression
Nausea
Insomnia and other sleep problems
Feeling cold
Lack of energy/fatigue
Bluish tone to fingers/toes due to lack of circulation
Vivid dreams
Chest pain or tightness
Joint pain
Headache
Shakiness
Decreased appetite
Sertraline - When dose increased from 100mg to 150mg, really vivid dreams started. Thank God not nightmares, but still really weird. Remember a dream every morning.

Levothyroxine - When dose increased from 50mg to 100mg, chest pains started. Very worrying at first but pain has decreased. Lost my appetite almost immediately. I don't know whether the tiredness is due to the lack of sleep, loss of appetite, or just the medication. Tiredness is very slowly decreasing (but i still need to nap for 2 hours every day). When first started taking 100mg didn't have any problems sleeping. In fact, it was excessive (but I was still knackered). Now it takes me hours to fall asleep at night but I'm still tired. Over the past few days I've been feeling sick as I (wait to) fall asleep. I also get bad pain in my feet and legs, like sharp throbbing, as I lay in bed. Headache is always at the front above left eye. I feel so shakey all the time. My legs feel like jello sometimes. I need to hold onto the hand rail when I walk down stairs as I feel so unstable. 2bh I didn't experience any hypothyroidism 'problems' prior to being diagnosed (I had goitre, but it was pointed out to me by my Doctor [I didn't notice it myself]). Since taking the Levo I feel 100, make that 1000, times worse.
The Sertraline is generally ok. Everyone says they wish they remembered their dreams, I did at 1 time, but now they're kinda annoying!

Lamisil (terbinafine) 1 pill/da y 4 months
Anemia (low red blood cell count)
Physical exam in Sept. 2009 revealed below average blood count (Red, white, hemaglobin, hematocrit)at 3 months of taking Lamisil. Additional blood testing from dermatologist also shows the same. Blood counts have steadily dropped since initiating treatment. No liver damage indicated in blood tests (every two to three weeks). I have since undergone gastrointestinal examination (stomach and colon)and results were both negative for bleeding or other abnormatility. Reason for anemia is currently unknown. Doctor is aware of Lamisil treatment but does not consider it a factor. Other possible symptoms include weight loss (11 kg in 3 months) (however, I had been doing moderate to heavy weightraining and swimming plus restricted diet/carbo cycling over the same period). Here again, doctor does not seem to think this is a factor. Currently, diagnosis is pending. Last blood test conducted a week ago still indicates low red blood cell count (From 370 to 372). Currently not taking any other medication/supplements/vitamin s. 50 Male 10/19

levothyroxine 25 mcg 1 days
Underactive thyroid gland ("hypothyroidism" - low levels of thyroid hormone - may cause subtle or extreme loss of energy; sluggisheness; hoarse voice; heavy menstruation; puffy face/eyes; pale, dry skin; weight gain; sensitivity to cold; constipation; muscle aches/stiffness/weakness; increased cholesterol levels; anemia; hearing loss; elevated CK/creatinine phosphokinase; abnormal liver blood tests; thinning of the hair and eyebrows; loss of body hair; depression; decreased body temperature; coma)
I began taking Levothyroxine 25 mcg and within a week was experiencing what I call horrible chest pain. Throughout the week I also had many episodes of flutters and palpitations. My main concern is what is causing the chest pain. I have gone off the medicine and seem to be slowly returning to normal, but am terrified to try another Levothyroxine. Also concerned I may have heart issues. My doctor says she's never seen a reaction like this and is doubtful it's the medicine. I don't know what to do next. 38 Female 10/08
